Getting around on the coastline
There are two main terrestrial transport companies, which cover the entire coastal territory.
The long distance line “Sita”, has its terminals at Amalfi and Sorrento, respectively the “hearts” of the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Peninsula. The bus departs from the above locations every 30 minutes during summer and 60 minutes in winter.
In addition, from Sorrento you can reach other destinations on the Peninsula with the same line such as Sant’Agata and Nerano; whereas from Amalfi, you’ll find services for Minori and Maiori, Atrani, Ravello and all the other coastal towns. You’ll also find local company lines in the peninsula, departing from the Sorrento station.
The “Mobility Amalfi Coast” bus, however, cover the domestic territory in Positano, even making stops at the two higher hamlets Montepertuso and Nocelle and the connecting route between the Positano and Praiano; and its internal lap.
In order to reach locations outside the coastal territory, such as Naples and the Vesuvian areas, not related to these routes, you can take the “Circumvesuviana” railway line from Sorrento.
Caserta and Paestum, on the other hand, are accessible only via the SITA bus lines, and/or the TRENITALIA railway company.
There are also numerous taxi companies, car and scooter rentals, and of course you can also get around by sea.
In this regard, from April to October, there are the ferry lines of the Travelmar company, which, with several daily departures, connect Positano to the rest of the Amalfi Coast (Amalfi, Minori, Maiori, Cetara and Salerno). Instead, Gescab connects with the islands of Capri and Ischia; and the Positano Jet covers the Positano-Capri route. In addition, a daily line service departing from Amalfi at 9am and 3pm, leads to the Emerald Grotto at Conca dei Marini.
