Cetara

Known above all for its “colatura” of anchovies (a particolar local condiment), Cetara owes its name to the word “cetari”, in ancient time used to define traders and tuna fishermen.

The colorful goitres which compensate for the white of small houses; the blue of the sky, which blends perfectly with the sea; and the three characteristic beaches have often made Cetara an unparalleled film and advertising set.

Is certainly the complex of the Church of San Francesco that testifies how important it was the presence of the Franciscans in Cetara, after its devastation in 1534; and the Church of San Pietro Apostolo with its majolica dome.

Consecutively at the same Saracen attack is the construction of the mighty sighting tower, now a symbol of the city and worthy of a visit.
