Amalfi Coast Fornillo Beach is the second largest beach of Positano and can be reached on foot via a characteristic road that starts from the Spiaggia Grande di Positano, or by sea starting from the same pier.
The name “Fornillo” is attributed to the time of the Roman emperor Tiberio, a period in which in this area there was a large presence of ovens for the production of bread particularly appreciated by the emperor himself.
The beach, already particular in itself the presence of large pebbles and rocks scattered between shore and water, is about 300 meters long and guarded by two imposing towers at the two ends: Torre Trasita and that of Torre del Fornillo.
In addition to the free beach, Fornillo has several bathing establishments with adjoining restaurants, and is the ideal place for those who want to stay close to the center of Positano but enjoy a quieter area than the Spiaggia Grande.
A particularly awaited event that has now become part of the Positano tradition is the “Fish Festival” which “concludes” the summer season with an evening dedicated to the delicacies of the sea.
